I was driving the 2k2 around Fells Point Baltimore and I noticed the car sounded different. A bit louder with more burble. How could this be? After a while I heard something dragging under the car. Well it's tubing in the above picture. I'm not that upset, but I don't know what to do. My car sounds better, though some might disagree. I don't have money right now to replace it and I wanted the car to be a bit louder. The 2k2 sort of has two mufflers. A long resonator that leads into another shorter muffler. Should I take off the second one and strait pipe it? I can't even imagine how loud it would be. Should I save up for a racing exhaust? What do you guys think?
Here's a video. It was taken with a potato and doesn't do the car's sound any justice.

Either take off the second muffler and straight pipe it or replace it with a straight through design like a magnaflow or borla. The second option will be a little quieter at idle and usually give a deeper tone.

As long as it won't sound ridiculous with a strait pipe, I will probably do that. I don't ample funds right now. The replacement muffler from BMW classic is about $200 and a stainless IE performance exhaust setup is $325. Hopefully an exhaust shop won't hose me. It should only be about 5-6 ft of 2" tubing with two bends.

I woud straight pipe if there aren't noise restrictions

I have heard mixed things about the quality of parts from IE especially in the exhaust department. I have had the best luck with BavAuto good prices and amazing shipping time.
